Abstract:
Provided is a side chain olefin-containing vinyl alcohol-based polymer which contains 0.001-10 mol% of a structural unit represented by formula (1) with respect to the total amount of structural units, wherein the total carbon number of X, R1, R2, R3, and R4 is 2 or more. The side chain olefin-containing vinyl alcohol-based polymer has excellent storage stability, has good solubility in water or organic solvents even after being heat-treated, and has excellent reactivity to high energy radiation (in formula (1), X represents a divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, a divalent alicyclic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, a divalent aromatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, or a group in which two or more of said groups are bonded via at least one bond selected from the group consisting of an amide bond, an ester bond, an ether bond, and a sulfide bond; R1, R2, R3, and R4, each independently, represents a hydrogen atom, an aliphatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, an alicyclic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, or an aromatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent; and X, R1, R2, R3, and R4 may each form ring structures in arbitrary combinations).
