Abstract:
A side curtain airbag for a vehicle is provided. The airbag comprises: an inner panel facing the interior of a vehicle; and an outer panel opposite the inner panel and facing the interior of the vehicle. The airbag is configured such that a plurality of chambers are formed along the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle by a plurality of chamber walls defined along the fore-and-aft direction of the inner panel and the outer panel, in which an overlapping portion is formed in the front portion of the inner panel and the outer panel and constitutes a head chamber corresponding to a head of a passenger in the vehicle among the plurality of chambers so that an expansion thickness of the head chamber is relatively larger than an expansion thickness of the plurality of other chambers, whereby the head chamber, which is inflated in the event of a vehicle collision, pushes the head of the passenger toward the interior of the vehicle. With this configuration, the airbag blocks a passenger's head at an initial stage in the event of a vehicle collision to prevent the passenger's head from ejecting and rotating from the front and side of a vehicle, thereby reducing injuries to the passenger's head and neck.
