[Problem] To provide a side stand position detection device that has a simple construction and can be installed on either side of a vehicle body. [Solution] This side stand position detection device is equipped with: a rotary member (1) that is capable of rotating with the rotation of a side stand as a member to be detected; a movable contact body (2) that has a first sliding part (2a) at one end and a second sliding part (2b) at the other end and rotates with the rotation of the rotary member (1); and a first fixed contact body (3) and a second fixed contact body (4) that are arranged on the same circumference with a first gap and a second gap therebetween, against which the first sliding part (2a) and the second sliding part (2b) of the movable contact body (2) slide. When viewed from one direction along a rotary shaft of the rotary member (1), in a first installation state, the movable contact body (2) is arranged such that the first sliding part (2a) is located at a position corresponding to the first gap (5) while the second sliding part (2b) is located at a position in contact with second fixed contact body (4), and in a second installation state, the movable contact body (2) is arranged such that the first sliding part (2a) is located at a position in contact with the second fixed contact body while the second sliding part (2b) is located at a position corresponding to the second gap (6).
