Abstract:
Provided are a signal detection method and an optical time domain reflectometer. The optical time domain reflectometer comprises a controller, a laser emission apparatus, a signal modulation apparatus, a coupler, a signal coupling apparatus, and a receiver. The laser emission apparatus outputs a first optical signal within a first time period. The signal modulation apparatus generates a pulse signal according to the first optical signal and outputs the pulse signal to an optical fiber within a second time period, wherein the first time period comprises the second time period. The receiver will receive a scattered signal from an optical fiber, wherein the frequency of the scattered signal is the same as the frequency of the first optical signal. Thereafter, the laser emission apparatus outputs a second optical signal in a third time period, wherein the frequency of the second optical signal is different from the frequency of the first optical signal. The second optical signal, acting as a local oscillator signal, can interfere with the scattered signal in the receiver, and the receiver achieves coherent detection.
