Abstract:
A branching unit (4) generates, from an input signal which is an electric current signal, a plurality of branch signals having signal strengths that are proportional to the input signal and are mutually different, and supplies each of the plurality of branch signals to different individual pathways. A selecting unit (9) selects any one of the plurality of individual pathways, and outputs the signal supplied by way of the selected individual pathway. A determining unit (8) determines whether the magnitude of each signal supplied to the selecting unit by each of the plurality of individual pathways lies within a predetermined permissible range. A control unit (12) causes the selecting unit to select the individual pathway having the largest gain, from among the individual pathways determined by the determining unit to lie within said permissible range.
