Abstract:
[Problem] Provided is a method for efficiently producing a liquid dispersion containing irregular-shaped silica particles by inhibiting generation of unreacted materials such as oligomers which do not grow into desired silica particles. [Solution] This method is for producing a liquid dispersion containing irregular-shaped silica particles each including two or more primary particles linked together, by simultaneously adding liquid A containing a silane alkoxide and liquid B containing an alkali catalyst and water to liquid I substantially consisting of an organic solvent and thereby causing the silane alkoxide to undergo hydrolysis and polycondensation, wherein the time period from the beginning of the addition until the silica concentration of the reaction system at the end of the addition reaches 70% is 20% or less of the full reaction time period.
