Abstract:
The present invention relates to a silicon carbide composite yarn with excellent heat resistance and a method for manufacturing same. The silicon carbide composite spun yarn of the present invention can be used for a covering fabric since silicon carbide staple fibers having excellent heat resistance but lacking flexibility are mixed with heat-deformable staple fibers and heat-resistant staple fibers that are more flexible than the silicon carbide staple fibers, and then connected, by the heat-deformable staple fibers, to other mixed staple fibers and arranged in a longitudinal direction, so that short and stiff silicon carbide staple fibers are neither lost nor separated during spinning and are modified more flexibly due to other connected staple fibers during bending or extension, and thus can give activity and soft-feel properties to fabrics, which are woven and knitted from the silicon carbide composite spun yarn. In addition, the present invention can be manufactured more economically by using silicon carbide staple fibers that can be easily produced while not using silicon carbide filaments that require strict spinning conditions and are difficult to handle due to the unique molecular structure thereof.
