Abstract:
A color cathode-ray tube (CRT) (10) having an evacuated envelope (11) with an electron gun (26) therein for generating an electron beam (28) is disclosed. The envelope (11) further includes a faceplate panel (12) having a luminescent screen (22) with phosphor lines on an interior surface thereof. A focus mask (25), having a plurality of spaced-apart first conductive lines (40), is located adjacent to an effective picture area of the screen (22). The spacing between the first conductive lines (40) defines a plurality of slots substantially parallel to the phosphor liens on the screen (22). Each of the first conductive liens (40) has a substantially continuous insulating material layer (62) formed on a screen facing side thereof. A plurality of second conductive liens (60) are oriented substantially perpendicular to the plurality of first conductive lines (40) and are bonded thereto by the insulating material layer (62). A cap layer (65) if formed over the plurality of second conductive lines (60) and the insulating material (62). The cap layer (62) is a semiconducting layer that is used to prevent charge accumulation on the insulating material layer (62).
