Abstract:
Provided are a silicon nitride sintered body, a machine part, and a bearing that have exceptional mechanical properties and sliding properties. In the present invention, a rolling element 4 is a silicon nitride sintered body including silicon nitride particles, a rare earth element, and an aluminum element, wherein, within a range in which the sum of the area of the upper-size crystal grain diameter, in a range where the crystal grain diameter of β-type Si3N4 particles in the silicon nitride sintered body has a crystal orientation of 15-180°, is 30% relative to the area of the total crystal grain diameter, at least one of the following is satisfied: the crystal grain diameter of the β-type Si3N4 particles is 1-4 μm by circle equivalent diameter; and the aspect ratio of the β-type Si3N4 particles is 3-6.
