Abstract:

Silicone compounds characterized by comprising a polyphenylsilsesquioxane of cage and/or ladder type and one or more triorganosilyl groups each having a reactive functional group X and bonded to all or part of the SiO groups at the ends of the molecular chain of the polymer; and a process for producing the same, characterized by reacting a silanol-free polyphenylsilsesquioxane of cage and/or ladder type whose ends are closed in a cage-like form with a disiloxane compound having reactive functional groups X and represented by structural formula (3) in an organic solvent with heating in the presence of a catalyst for alkaline rearrangement and condensation until equilibrium is reached. The process can provide silicone compounds bearing reactive functional group(s) at the end(s) of the molecular chain and having excellent storage stability and satisfactory reproducibility of the properties including heat resistance.
