Abstract:
A simple method for determining a breakthrough time for an anti-seepage liner of a landfill comprises the following steps: (a) performing detection on a leachate sample of a landfill to determine an initial concentration C0 of a typical contaminant thereof, and monitoring a leachate head h in the landfill; (b) determining, according to a functional orientation for local groundwater in the landfill, a concentration CA inducing hazard or contamination; (c) determining, by means of investigation, parameters associated with the anti-seepage liner and parameters associated with contaminant transfer, the parameters associated with the anti-seepage liner comprising a thickness z of the anti-seepage liner, a liner permeability coefficient k, a porosity n of a liner material, and the parameters associated with contaminant transfer comprising an effective dispersion coefficient Da * of the contaminant in the anti-seepage liner, a mechanical dispersion coefficient Dm, a retardation factor Rd relating to adsorption of the contaminant by the anti-seepage liner; (d) and calculating, according to a formula, a breakthrough time t for the anti-seepage liner.
