Abstract:
Disclosed is a simulated sound generation method wherein a determination unit (740A) refers to road width information contained in a memory unit (710) based on the current location of a vehicle (CR) detected by a position detection unit (720) and identifies the width of the road that the vehicle (CR) is currently driving on. Then, the determination unit (740A) determines the range of the simulated sound output towards the exterior of the vehicle based on the identified width of the road. Next, a control unit (750) determines the volume setting for simulated sound output from left and right speakers of a simulated sound generation unit (760A) based on the determined range. As a result, simulated sound corresponding to the volume setting is output from the left and right speakers of the simulated sound generation unit (760A) towards the exterior of the vehicle. Thus, output of the simulated sound can be controlled while taking into account the probability that persons to be notified are present in surroundings which change due to the type of road currently being driven on.
