Abstract:
This simultaneous translation system 50 for translating speech of a first language into a second language comprises: devices 64, 66, 68, and 70 that perform speech recognition of a speech signal of the first language, and divides the speech signal into chunks to output a chunk sequence composed of the chunks of the first language; an automatic translation device 72 which automatically translates each of the chunks of the first language of the devices 64, 66, 68, and 70 into the second language, and outputs the chunks of the second language; and a translation result editing device 74 which has a display device for displaying the chunks of the second language output by the automatic translation device 72 and the chunks of the first language corresponding to the chunks of the second language so that the chunks of the second language and the chunks of the first language can be compared with each other and the chunks of the second language can be edited by a first editor, and which outputs the edited text of the second language in response to receiving an instruction to finish editing.
