Disclosed is a sine and cosine position encoder applicable to a stator magnetic track free linear motor, comprising a mounting support, iron cores, excitation coils, and response coils. The main structure of the present invention is as follows: the iron cores, the excitation coils, and the response coils are combined into position encoder bodies which are fixed on the mounting support; the bodies are mounted in the vertical direction of a stator of a stator magnetic track free linear motor, and an air gap is maintained between the bodies and the stator of the stator magnetic track free linear motor. The working principle of the present invention is as follows: once excitation signals are inputted into the excitation coils, the iron cores interact with the stator of the stator magnetic track free linear motor in a running process of the motor, so as to generate magnetic density that changes approximately sinusoidally, and then generate response signals in the response coils. The response coils are connected in series or in parallel, and reconstruct the response signals, so as to obtain orthogonal sine and cosine signals, and then reflect a real-time rotor position of the stator magnetic track free linear motor. The present invention has the advantages of small volume, reliable structure, high precision, and low cost.
