Abstract:

A single-mode optical fiber, which is insensitive to the bending loss, is composed of a bare glass optical fiber (11) with a circular cross-section and two resin protecting layers (12,13) with annular cross-sections surrounding the periphery of the bare glass optical fiber (11). The bare glass optical fiber (11) is composed of a core layer (111) with a circular cross-section and two claddings (112,113) with annular cross-sections. The refractive index of the core layer (111) is higher than that of the two claddings (112,113), and the difference of the refractive index between the core layer (111) and the first cladding (112) is higher than that between the first cladding (112) and the second cladding (113). The second cladding (113) is made of pure silicon dioxide. The refractive index profile of the core layer (111) is power function distribution, and the refractive index profiles of the two claddings (112,113) are step-shaped distributions.
