Abstract:
Provided are: a sintered valve guide which has high strength and exhibits excellent wear resistance and machinability; and a method for producing this sintered valve guide. A sintered valve guide according to the present invention has a matrix and pores that are dispersed in the matrix. The matrix is composed of a pearlite single phase structure or a mixed structure of ferrite and pearlite, in which martensite phases are dispersed. The abundance of the martensite phases is set such that the area ratio of the martensite phases in a cross-section of the structure is 1-10% of the matrix. According to the present invention, a mixed powder which is obtained by adding a copper-phosphorus alloy powder, a nickel powder and a graphite powder into an iron powder such that the mass ratio of the copper-phosphorus alloy powder is 1.0-6.0%, the mass ratio of the nickel powder is 0.1-3.0% and the mass ratio of the graphite powder is 0.5-1.5% is formed into a molded body such that the molded body has a density of 6.8-7.2 Mg/m3; and the thus-obtained molded body is sintered at a temperature of 950-1,200°C.
