Abstract:
The forming apparatus herein is horizontally elongated and highly flexible. This apparatus is constructed in various lengths and widths depending on the user's requirements. Hereon vertical tabs (11) are welded to the outside of the form at pre-determined intervals to support angled iron (12) to achieve horizontally straight and sturdy forming. Whereby removing said angled iron (12), you are able to achieve any desired curve, whether concave or convex. A manually adjustable apparatus (10), consisting of two sections of tube steel, one having a larger inside diameter than the outside diameter of the other, wherein assembled are slidable for horizontal adjusting of the said forms. Hereon, welded to the said adjuster, a vertical round tube having a set screw within, holds a vertical steel rod. Herein, the steel rod is driven into the earth for stability and vertical adjusting is achieved by means of the set screw. Hereon each length of form, end plates are welded at ninety degree angles, whereby two sections can be assembled by means of male and female connection. By means of each sections ability to connect, these forms can be assembled and dismantled for transportation from job site to job site.

Claims:
THE EMBODIMENTS OF THIS INVENTION IN WHICH AN EXCLUSIVE PROPERTY OR RIGHTS ARE CLAIM
1. ED ARE: Slab forming apparatus for forming sections of concrete slabs in a predetermined area comprised of elongated cold rolled steel of various lengths and widths having precut plates of cold rolled steel welded at ninety degree angles to both ends of the elong¬ ated cold rolled steel, wherein one end being comprised of two pre drilled holes, and the opposite end having two stud bolts welded at said steel plate, wherein this procedure is carried out several sect¬ ions of elongated cold rolled steel, can be assembled precisely and effectively to form longer sections which when placed upon the ground horizontally can be arranged to hold concrete within its form to achieve the desired shape and size of any given slab of concrete.
2. The slab forming apparatus as stated in claim 1 en¬ hanced by a manually adjusting apparatus fastened to the outside of the steel form by means of welding, enables the said forms to be adjusted in the horizontal and/ or vertical directions.
3. The slab forming apparatus as stated in claims 1 and 2 characterized by steel tabs cut in a "L" shape when welded to the outside of the form at predetermined intervals act as a permanent guide for inserting angled iron to achieve and maintain horizontally straight sections of forming. Whereas curved sections are required the angled iron can be removed or omitted.
4. The slab forming apparatus as set forth in the above claims 1 through 3 when characterized by prefabricated right angled sections (inside and outside) allows the user(s) to achieve accurate and effecient square or right angle corners. SUBSTITUTE SHEET.
Description:
SLAB CONCRETE FORMS

This invention relates to a manually operable concrete forming apparatus. Wood forming is commonly used throughout the concrete forming industry. Wood forms must be cut to fit the job at hand. To acheive curves, the wood is usually soaked in water to make it pliable. Wood forms are assembled by means of wire nails. The lifespan of wood forms range from five to twelve uses. Skilled workers are also needed for the set up of such forming and can be very time consuming.

I have found that these disadvantages can be overcome by using cold rolled steel cut in various lengths and widths and attaching thereon an apparatus to allow for horizontal and vertical movement, which permits extremely fast fine tuning in the forming process. By means of male and female connectors, these forms can be quickly assembled without the use of wire nails. Curves can be achieved relatively easily without break- ing or warping, also these forms can achieve and maintain curves which cannot be done with wood. Wherein straight lines are required, angled iron placed in tabs welded to the outside of the form will produce exact and speedy forming. Right angle sections are available for fast forming, using the said male and female connection for inside or out side right angles. A stake holder is welded to the horizontal and vertical adjuster to allow for positive and quick stake setting.

Fig. 5 is a detail view of the right angle section of the form. Referring now to Figs. 1 through 5, a section of the said form 15 extends horizontally on the ground showing curved and straight run¬ ning section. Fig. 1 a steel tab 11 fastened by means of welding, holds angled iron 12 solidly in place to achieve straight running sections. Whereby removing angled iron 12 you are able to curve or bend the form 15 to the desired setting. Fig. 1 shows how horizontal and vertical adjuster 10 holds in place the said stake 14 to secure the form 15 in place on the ground. Prefabricated right angled section 16 containing welded support 13 shows how two sections of the form 15 is assembled by means described in Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 known as male and female con¬ nection. Referring to Fig. 1 the length and width of the form 15 will vary de¬ pending on the users requirements. However, through my own studies with prototypes and working model, I feel that the most popular lengths of form 15 will be in two, four, six, eight and ten feet sections. These sizes will allow for easy handling and transportation. I feel that the widths of form 15 will be four inches to six inches wide. Referring now to Fig. 2 a square steel plate 22 having two holes 25 is fastened by means of welding to a square tube 20. A round tube 21 is also welded to square steel plate 22. This round tube 21 is known as a stake holder, which holds the stake Fig. 1:14. Another square tube section 19 having a smaller outside diameter than the inside diameter of square tube 20,so it can slide in and out.

Referring to Fig. 3 this view shows square steel plate 22 having a threaded nut 26 welded to the inside. Whereon square tube 20 is welded squarely to steel plate 22. Fig. 3:19 having a steel plate 27 welded to one end., has been drilled out and a threaded extra long nut 26 welded in place.

A long threaded bolt 24 is then screwed into threaded nuts 26 to join both sections to form the adjuster which will control the horizontal movement. Square tube section 19 is then welded to the outside of form 15. These adjusters 10 are welded at various inter¬ vals, and the amount required is determined by the length of form 15. Referring to Fig. 4 an exploded view of the male and female connector plates. Each form 15 having a plate welded at ninety degrees to form 15 with two holes 18 and one plate with two stud bolts 17. Each of the forms 15 had two of the steel plates, opposites welded to the end of said form 15. Referring now to Fig. 5 showing a right angle section having the face (front) of the form 15 welded to two steel plates at forty-five degrees, having support 13 which is fastened to both plates. These plates having pre-drilled holes 18 and 17B. Stud bolts 17B and the bolts 17A are then welded into place. This section of form Fig. 5 is used on outside right angles. To achieve inside right angles, a section would be made having the stud bolts 17A reversed by inserting and welding them to steel plate having holes 18.

In detailing the mechanics and operation of my invention, I should also add that with a little care in oiling the moveable parts occasionally, and cleaning periodically, this forming ap- paratus can easily exceed one thousand assemblies and tear downs. My invention can also cut labour cost by more than fifty percent and does not require skilled forming labourers to set up. The invention put forth in this document is manufactured from stock cold rolled steel (CRS) which is available at most steel suppliers. In my invention which I have described with particular reference to the drawings and was intended for such uses as concrete form¬ ing of decks, patios, sidewalks, and runways, such is not to be considered as limiting its overall uses in our society.
