Abstract:
In order to make a liquid film thick by means of a dynamic pressure effect on a high-pressure fluid side of a sliding surface, thereby improving the fluid lubrication characteristic, and to make the liquid film thin on a low-pressure fluid side, thereby suppressing leakage, this sliding component, for which multiple dimples (10) are arranged on at least one sliding surface, of the sliding surfaces that are on a pair of sliding components and that slide relative to one another, is characterized in that the multiple dimples (10) are provided independently from the other dimples, and the area ratio of the multiple dimples (10) is set so as to be smaller on the low-pressure fluid side than on the high-pressure fluid side of the sliding surface.
