Abstract:
Friction materials with a high coefficient of dynamic friction have been developed in order to reduce size and weight. However, raising the coefficient of dynamic friction causes adhesion with a sliding partner material and for the operational feeling to deteriorate especially during the initial bedding-in period at the initial stage of use. Therefore, there were limitations to the use of friction materials with a high coefficient of dynamic friction. Since adhesion with a sliding partner material is less likely to occur after the initial bedding-in period, a shape that is less apt to adhere during the initial fitting period was developed. Among the sliding surfaces (5) between the friction material (3) and the sliding partner material (7) contact is made only at the initial sliding surface (5') or at the initial sliding surface (5') and the vicinity thereof. As time elapses, the area that is in contact with the sliding partner material becomes completely in contact therewith, that is, the area increases until there is contact with the entire sliding surface (5). A friction material with excellent friction performance and abrasion and adhesion resistance can be provided by having the above-mentioned structure.
