Abstract:
Provided is a sliding member which exerts excellent adhesiveness and slidability, and which is suitable for use as a transfer pad in an image forming device. A sliding member (10) contains a porous body (1), which is a sinter formed from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) particles, and a sliding surface (5) formed from the surface of the porous body (1), wherein 50% or more of the sliding surface (5) is covered with the particles, and the surface roughness (Ra) is 2.0µm or less. The sliding member (10) can be obtained by heating a porous body formed by cutting a sinter comprising UHMWPE particles, and by smoothing the sliding surface (5) so that the surface (5) is smoother compared with before the surface (5) was subjected to the heating process.
