Abstract:
Provided is a sliding member which has a hard carbon film that has a good balance between high separation resistance and high wear resistance even if the thickness thereof is 3 μm or more. A sliding member 100 according to the present invention is characterized by comprising a base material 10 and a hard carbon film 12 which is formed on the base material 10, while having a hydrogen content of 3% by atom or less and a thickness of 3 μm or more. This sliding member 100 is also characterized in that if HM is the Martens hardness of the hard carbon film 12 and HIT is the indentation hardness of the hard carbon film 12, HM/HIT is 0.40 or more.
