Abstract:

Provided is a sliding member that possesses a hardness suitable for an environment in which a heavy load is applied and that exhibits excellent wear resistance. The sliding member (1) is provided with a first sintered layer (2) that is hardened by sintering an iron-based metal powder and a second sintered layer (3) that is provided to the surface of the first sintered layer (2) and that is hardened by sintering a copper-based metal powder in order to improve sliding characteristics. The second sintered layer (3) is densified using a blasting treatment in which fine particles are made to collide with the surface of the second sintered layer (3).
