Abstract:

Provided are sliding parts in which the leakage of a high-pressure fluid being sealed is small and torque is low. Sliding surfaces 11, 21 are rotated relative to each other while an annular mating ring 20 and an annular seal ring 10 face each other, and as a result, the sliding parts 10, 20 seal the fluid being sealed which is present on one radial side of each of the sliding surfaces 11, 21 which rotate and slide relative to each other. The sliding surfaces 11, 21 of the mating ring 20 and/or the seal ring 10 have therein a plurality of stepped recesses 24 formed in a circumferential direction, and relative rotational sliding between the mating ring 20 and the seal ring 10 causes the stepped recesses 24 to generate a dynamic pressure. In each of the stepped recesses 24, a dynamic pressure recess 23 surrounds a static pressure recess 22 having a greater depth than the dynamic pressure recess 23, and the stepped recess 24 has a stepped cross-sectional shape formed by the dynamic pressure recess 23 and the static pressure recess 22.
