A slitting method capable of accurately and easily slitting on the outer peripheral surface of a blank at any position in plate thickness direction in manufacturing a metal sheet V-pulley, comprising the steps of forming a blank storing recessed part (5) smaller in depth than the plate thickness of the blank (1) in the upper surface of a rotating drag (4) on which the disc-shaped metal blank (1) is placed and forming a roller die guide surface (6) lower than the height of the upper surface of the blank (1) stored in the blank storing recessed part (5) horizontally on the outer periphery of the blank storing recessed part (5), whereby a slitting roller die (11) having a blade tip (12) on the outer periphery thereof allows the blade tip (12) to slide on the roller die guide surface (6) in radial inner direction, while rotating in synchronous with the blank (1) about a roller axis inclined relative to the rotating center of rotating upper and lower dies(4) so as to press it against the outer peripheral part (10) of the blank (1) projecting from the blank storing recessed part (5) in order to divide the outer peripheral part (10) into two parts in plate thickness direction for forming slit parts (10a, 10b).
