Abstract:
Provided are: a sliver having the function of deodorization and/or the function of generating heat upon moisture absorption; a process for efficiently and rationally producing the sliver; and a spun yarn and a textile product both obtained using the sliver. The sliver for spinning, which has the function of deodorization and/or the function of generating heat upon moisture absorption, is obtained by arranging short fibers in one direction, collecting the fibers together into a strand, irradiating the resultant sliver for spinning with electron rays to impart active groups to the fiber surface and/or generate radicals on the fiber surface, and bonding a compound containing an ethylenically unsaturated double bond to the surface of the fibers. The spun yarn is obtained by subjecting the sliver for spinning to fine spinning or by subjecting the sliver to fine spinning together with other sliver(s), and has the function of deodorization and/or the function of generating heat upon moisture absorption. The textile product is a textile product comprising the spun yarn and having the function of deodorization and/or the function of generating heat upon moisture absorption.
