Provided is a smoking material wrapper for wrapping a smoking material portion of a smoking article, wherein the smoking material wrapper includes a balsamic fragrance. In one embodiment of the present invention, the balsamic fragrance is a benzoin resinoid, benzoic acid, cinnamic acid, benzaldehyde, or a combination thereof. In one embodiment of the present invention, the smoking material wrapper contains more than 0.1 wt% and less than 15 wt% of the balsamic fragrance with respect to the total weight of the smoking material wrapper. The smoking material wrapper according to one embodiment of the present invention greatly reduces the unpleasant odor of sidestream smoke that is generated when a smoking article is smoked, but does not noticeably exhibit a characteristic scent that can be generated by the addition of a fragrance.
