Abstract:
Provided is an Sn alloy powder for negative electrodes of lithium ion batteries, which contains, in at%, 35-50% of Co and/or Fe (provided that Co and Fe can be partially substituted by Ni within the range where Ni%/(Co% + Fe% + Ni%) is 0.3 or less), 3-10% of Ti and/or Zr, 0-5% of In, 0-10% of Cu and/or Ag, with the balance made up of Sn and unavoidable impurities. This powder has such a feature that when Co and/or Fe is represented by M, the intensity ratio of the MSn2[211] peak relative to the MSn[110] peak is 0.10-2.50, the intensity ratio of the Sn[101] peak relative to the MSn[110] peak is 0.50 or less, and the intensity ratio of the M3Sn2[102] peak relative to the MSn[110] peak is 0.10-1.00 as determined by X-ray diffraction. This Sn alloy powder for negative electrodes of lithium ion batteries has excellent discharge capacity and excellent cycle life.
