Abstract:
A socket (1) comprises: a base (2) having a mounting portion (21) in which an IC chip (9) is mounted, and supporting a plurality of contact members (99) that are to be electrically connected to the IC chip (9); an operating member (3) which is provided so as to be capable of moving vertically with respect to the base (2), and which is shaped to allow the IC chip (9) to be introduced into the mounting portion (21); pivoting members (4) which pivot relative to the base (2) in conjunction with the vertical movement of the operating member (3); and pressing members (5) which move, in conjunction with the pivoting of the pivoting member (4), between a contacting position in contact with an upper surface of the IC chip (9) mounted in the mounting portion (21) and a retracted position separated diagonally upward from the contacting position toward the outside of the socket, the pressing members (5) moving while maintaining a fixed orientation.
