Abstract:

Soft contact lens comprising PVA of not less than 10 kg/cm2 in tensile strength, 40 to 95 wt % in moisture content, not less than 90% in visible light transmittance, and not less than 30 x 10-11 cm3.(STP).cm/cm2.sec.mmHg in oxygen permeability. This lens can be prepared by pouring a solution of PVA in a mixed solvent of water and an organic solvent into a mold of contact lens form and crystallizing at a temperature not higher than ordinary temperature, and has high strength, high moisture content, high transparency and high oxygen permeability.
