Description:

SOFT WALL HANGER

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This patent application is related to and claims priority from U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial Number 61/003,585 filed November 16, 2007.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates, ' in general, to hangers and, more particularly, this invention relates to hangers for soft walls.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Prior to the conception and development of the present invention, as is generally well known in the prior art, hangers for suspending objects from soft walls. Typically the hanger has an anchor or anchors and a hook portion to for the object. U.S.

Patent no 6 r 279, 862 issued to Gershowitz has prongs from the rear surface of a panel and an angled shallow hook from a hole the in front surface of the panel. Similarly in U.S.

Patent 4,901,962 issued to Greer has a resilient wire is bent into an R-shaped with a sharpened lower end for insertion into a modular wall, the Greer clip has an anodized section abutting the modular wall to hold papers. In Hoskinson, et al U.S.

Patent No. 5,029,788, a combination clip and hanger. A wire has a prong, stem and hook for hanging pictures. The clip is designed also as a clip to hold papers against a soft wall.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides a prong first portion terminating in a sharp point, angular portion, second portion, U-shaped portion and second end portion terminating in a rounded edge. The first portion has a greater length and the second portion has a narrower diameter than the second portion. Similarly, the U-shaped portion and the second end portion have a diameter at least as great as the diameter of the second portion. This allows the hanger to have a greater holding power in the soft wall and greater strength to hold objects.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

It is, therefore, one of the primary objects of the present invention to provide an improved hanger to hang pictures looped hooks and clips on soft walls.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a hanger to hang objects securely on a soft wall without damage.

Still another object of the present invention is to provide a stronger hook. Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a color-coded hook to aid in organizing papers.

In addition to the various objects and ' advantages of the present invention described with some degree of specificity above it should be obvious that additional objects and

advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent to those persons who are skilled in the relevant art from the following more detailed description of the invention, particularly, when such description is taken in conjunction with the attached drawing figures and with the appended claims.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the hanger. Figure 2 is a side elevational view of another embodiment of the hanger.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF A PRESENTLY

PREFERRED AND VARIOUS ALTERNATIVE

EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION Prior to proceeding to the more detailed description of the present invention it should be noted that, for the sake of clarity and understanding, identical components, which have identical functions, have been identified with identical reference numerals throughout the several views illustrated in the drawing figures.

Reference is now made, more particularly, to Figure 1 hanger 10 has a first portion 11 that terminates in a sharp point 12. This is inserted in the fabric of a soft wall. The soft wall typically has a fabric cover and an inner panel. The first portion has a predetermined length and diameter generally adjacent to the first portion His an angular portion 13. The

angular portion is defined as angle or a curve. The angle is measured at the intersection ' of a line along each segment of the angular portion. The angle is less than 45 degrees and preferably is between 10 and 30 degrees. Generally adjacent to angular portion 13 is a second portion 14 having a second predetermined length and diameter. The second predetermined diameter is greater than the first predetermined diameter and the second predetermined length is less than the first predetermined length. This allows the first portion to be inserted at least under the fabric portion of a soft wall and have a relatively large area to support the hanger. The second portion having a second predetermined diameter greater than the first predetermined diameter is to increase the strength of the hanger. A U-shaped section 15 is generally adjacent to the second portion 14 and is capable of receiving papers, binder clips, tools, utensils and other objects. The U-shaped section also is intended to include a V-shaped section.

The U-shaped section terminates in a second end portion that 16 is preferably rounded.

Preferably, the hanger has a covering member 17 that surrounds at least a portion of U-shaped section 15. However, the covering member can cover a portion or all of the second portion 14, U-shaped portion 15 and second end portion 16. The

covering member 17 is preferably a coating manufactured of plastic or rubber. Preferably each covering member is one of plurality of colors. The colors allows the hanger to be used to organize papers. One use for example would be to have the papers held by a binder clip that is placed on the U-shaped section 15.

Figure 2 shows a second embodiment of the present invention. In the second embodiment, the second portion 14 has a first segment 21 and second segment 22. The first segment 21 is adjacent to the angular portion 13 and the second segment 22 is adjacent the U-shaped section 15. The first segment 21 and second segment 22 define and angle such that the second segment 22 is substantially vertical and generally adjacent to the soft wall in use. This allows the item to be hung from the hook in closer proximity to the soft wall. While a presently preferred and various alternative embodiments of the present invention have been described in sufficient detail above to enable a person skilled in the relevant art to make and use the same it should be obvious that various other adaptations and modifications can be envisioned by those persons skilled in such art without departing from either the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
