Abstract:

A soil resisting device (20) for a structure contacting seawater which is provided with an anode forming member (4) installed via an insulating adhesive (6) on the surface, on the seawater side, of a structure contacting seawater (15), the anode forming member (4) being coated with an electrochemically active, stable electric catalyst (3). A conductor (8) is installed in contact with seawater (15) and the positive pole (7a) of an external dc power supply (7) is connected to the member (4), and the negative pole (7b) to the conductor (8). The power supply (7) has a built-in automatic potential controller (7c) and a potential between the positive and negative poles (7a, 7b) is set to a level at which to generate oxygen while restraining the generation of hydrogen in the seawater. The device can prevent an abnormal corrosion at a damaged portion even when a rubber lining or the like on a metal portion of a structure is damaged.
