Abstract:
A single open ended testing cylinder (14) which is attached to wireline probe instrumented head (16) is positioned at the lower end of a conventional hollow-stem drilling auger (12) which is penetrated into the soil (A) therebelow. During testing cylinder (14) is rotated in the soil (A) while torsional loading is measured and axial loading bypassed.
