Title:
SOLID-MATERIAL BEARING AND A METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2003/013767
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing self-lubricating, maintenance-free bearings, in particular bushes or thrust washers, according to which at least bronze powder is used. The bronze powder is sintered in a furnace at a temperature of $m(F) 850° C in a protective gas atmosphere and the pores of the sintered bronze are filled by vacuum infiltration with a PTFE suspension. The bronze powder is cold pressed prior to sintering in a die to form a solid material slug comprising a wall thickness of between 2 and 20 mm, in such a way that the slug has uniformly distributed, open pores with a porosity of between 20 and 50 vol. %. The solid material slug is then sintered in such a way that the uniformly distributed, open pores stabilise. The invention also relates to a corresponding self-lubricating solid-material bearing consisting of sintered bronze, in which between 2 and 10 wt. % PTFE, (in relation to the total material) is deposited in the pores of the sintered material and in which the PTFE fraction below an inlet region fluctuates by a maximum 10 % over the total wall thickness.
