Abstract:
A method for fabricating a solid rocket motor case (26) includes applying an insulator material (34) around a mandrel, embedding at least two rigid support pieces (36) in the insulator material (34), wherein the at least two rigid support pieces (36) are axially symmetric about the insulator material (34), filament winding a case around the insulator (34), machining access holes (38) through the case (32) to, respectively, each of the at least two rigid support pieces (36), affixing pivoting hardware (24) to each of the at least two rigid support pieces (36) through the access holes (38), and uprighting the case (26) via the pivoting hardware (24).
