Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a solid-state image capturing element, a drive method and an electronic device which make it possible to capture wide dynamic range images with improved image quality. This solid-state image capturing element is provided with: a pixel region in which are disposed a plurality of pixels which perform photoelectric conversion; and a circuit region in which is disposed, at least, a logarithmic transformation circuit which reads pixel signals from each pixel by means of a logarithmic readout method which changes the pixel signal substantially logarithmically in accordance with the amount of light received by the pixel. Further, the logarithmic transformation circuit is capable of switching between the logarithmic readout method and a linear readout method when reading the pixel signals from the pixels. This technology is applicable to CMOS image sensors, for example.
