Abstract:
Provided is a solid-state imaging device for suppressing a surface-area reduction of a photodiode to the minimum possible, and balancing a wide dynamic range when at low sensitivity and a high S/N ratio when at high sensitivity. A solid-state imaging device having an imaging region in which a plurality of pixel cells formed on a semiconductor substrate are arranged in a matrix pattern, wherein: each of the plurality of pixel cells has a photodiode for performing a photoelectric conversion, a floating diffusion to which the load produced by the photoelectric conversion is conveyed, and an amplifying transistor for amplifying the load from the floating diffusion; and two serially connected switches for connecting the floating diffusion of two pixel cells adjacent in the matrix are further provided in the solid-state imaging device.
