Disclosed are: a solvent for a nonaqueous electrolyte solution, which provides a lithium secondary battery that has excellent discharge capacity, load characteristics and cycle characteristics even under high voltage; a nonaqueous electrolyte solution using the solvent; and a lithium secondary battery. The solvent for a nonaqueous electrolyte solution of a lithium secondary battery contains (I) a non-fluorinated cyclic carbonate, (II) a non-fluorinated chain carbonate, and (III) a 1,1-difluorinated alkyl ethylene carbonate. When the total of the components (I), (II) and (III) is taken as 100% by volume, the non-fluorinated cyclic carbonate (I) is contained in an amount of 10-50% by volume, the non-fluorinated chain carbonate (II) is contained in an amount of 49.9-89.9% by volume, and the 1,1-difluorinated alkyl ethylene carbonate (III) is contained in an amount of 0.1-30% by volume (inclusive).
