Abstract:
A sorting machine (1) in which the gap between a first roller (3) and a second roller (4) can be adjusted in a simple and accurate manner to a value corresponding to the size of the item to be sorted. In the sorting machine (1), an item size detector (1c) detects the size of the item to be sorted, and a controller (16) transmits, on the basis of the detected item size, a command to a drive unit (71) of a roller movement mechanism (7) for movably and pivotally supporting the second roller, whereupon the roller movement mechanism (7) moves the second roller (4) in a radial direction parallel to the width direction of a device body (2) on the basis of the command, and adjusts the gap between the first roller (3) and the second roller (4) to a size corresponding to the size of the item.
