Abstract:
Provided is a space filling material having excellent strength for reinforcing a space when filled into a predetermined space and excellent strength for fixing a material to be fixed. This space filling material (11) is composed of reinforced fibers and a thermoplastic resin, and the reinforced fibers have a plurality of intersections with each other, with at least a portion of the intersections being adhered by the thermoplastic resin. With respect to the volume of all the reinforced fibers, the volume content is at least 20% by volume for reinforced fibers having a degree of curvature defined by the minimum distance between fiber length/both ends of the fiber of at least 1.004. The space filling material (11) expands when the reinforced fibers are released due to softening of the thermoplastic resin by heating, and fills the inside of a predetermined space (13).
