Abstract:
A spark ignition internal combustion engine comprises a valve-closing time variable mechanism that can alter the closing period of an intake valve after an intake bottom dead point, in which the quantity of intake air supplied into the combustion chamber is principally controlled by altering the valve closing time of the intake valve. When an engine is cold-started, the closing time of the intake valve is advanced as compared with that time during warming operation of the engine. When the engine is cold-started, the mixed air sucked into the combustion chamber is blown back into the combustion chamber, whereby variance of the air fuel ratio occurs among the cylinders. However, according to the present invention, the spark ignition internal combustion engine in which occurrence of variance of the air fuel ratio among the cylinders can be suppressed.
