Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for preparing a silver-diamond composite material, the method comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a composite powder by ball-milling silver powder and diamond powder; and (b) preparing a silver-diamond composite material by spark plasma sintering (SPS) the composite powder prepared in step (a). According to the method for preparing a silver-diamond composite material according to the present invention, a highly dense and uniform silver-diamond composite material can be easily prepared by ball-milling silver powder and diamond powder to prepare a composite powder having a uniform dispersion, and using a spark plasma sintering (SPS) process to process the prepared composite powder into a composite material in a short amount of time, and since the conductivity of the composite material may be controlled through a method of adjusting the content of silver powder as necessary, a material that can be utilized in various fields may be prepared. Also, the silver-diamond composite material prepared by the above-described method has excellent mechanical characteristics (density, Vicker's hardness, etc.), and thus, may be applied to the manufacture of components used in various fields such as a vehicles, trains, ships, and aerospace, and in particular, may be effectively utilized in the manufacture of bushings or the like requiring high strength and wear resistance.
