Abstract:
This spark plug (1) for use in an internal combustion engine is provided with a housing (2), an insulator (3), a center electrode (4), a ground electrode (5) and a tip projection (22). The tip projection (22) has an air guide surface (221). In a state viewed from the axial direction of this spark plug (1), line L is the line connecting the center point (C) of the center electrode (4) and the center, in the direction around the spark plug, of a standing part (51) of the ground electrode (5), and line M is the line of extension of the air guide surface (221); a is defined as the distance between the center point (C) of the center electrode (4) and the point of intersection (A) between line L and line M (the direction away from the standing part (51) being positive), b is defined as the angle formed between line L and line M, and D as the diameter of the housing. At this time, all of the following hold: b ≧ -67.8×(a/D) + 27.4, b ≦ -123.7×(a/D) + 64.5, -0.4 ≦ (a/D) ≦ 0.4 and 0° < b ≦ 90°.
