This spark plug (1) is provided with a housing (2), an insulator (3), a center electrode (4) which is held inside of the insulator (3) such that the tip (41) protrudes, a ground electrode (5) consisting of an upright portion (51) and an opposing portion (52), and a guide member (22) which has a guide surface (221) facing the upright portion (51) of the ground electrode (5) and which guides the flow of mixed gas that is inside of the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine to a spark discharge gap (G) formed between the central electrode (4) and the opposing portion (52) of the ground electrode (5). The opposing portion (52) of the ground electrode (5) has an opposing surface (521) opposing the central electrode (4), a back surface (522) which is on the side opposite of the opposing surface (521) in the axial direction, and a pair of side surfaces (523, 524) which connect the opposing surface (521) and the back surface (522). Of the pair of side surfaces (523, 524), at least the side surface (523) on the side of the guide member (22) is formed such that an obtuse angle is formed with the opposing surface (521).
