Abstract:
A spark plug, wherein an insulator is prevented from cracking and air-tightness between a body metal and the insulator is reliably achieved. A body fitting (11) has formed thereon a shelf section (30) at which the inner diameter of the body fitting (30) is gradually reduced toward the forward end thereof. An insulator (12) has formed thereon a step section (32) which faces the shelf section (30) and at which the outer diameter of the insulator (12) is gradually reduced toward the forward end thereof. Packing (34) is mounted between the shelf section (30) and the step section (32). The distance between the shelf section (30) and the step section (32) is reduced inward in the radial direction. The angle θ between the shelf section (30) and the step section (32) is not less than one degree but not more than ten degrees.
