Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/125267
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a spark plug which includes electrode chips comprising Pd as the main component, the electrode chips having improved sparking wear resistance and being inhibited from suffering separation/breakage. The spark plug has an electrode chip at the tip of each electrode, wherein the electrode chip comprises Pd as the main component, has a Pd content of 40 wt.% or more, and contains at least one element selected from Ir, Ni, Co, and Fe. When Ir is contained, the Ir content is 0.5-20 wt.%. When at least one element selected from Ni, Co, and Fe is contained, the content of each element is 0.5-40 wt.%. The electrode chip further contains at least one element selected from Pt, Re, Rh, and Ru, the total content of Pt, Re, Rh, and Ru being 5-40 wt.%. When one or more of Re, Rh, and Ru elements are contained, the total content of the elements is 10 wt.% or less. When Pt is contained, the Pt content is 16-40 wt.%.
