Abstract:

The objective of the present invention is to suppress joining failures for a conductive seal and resistor while suppressing reductions in radio noise reduction performance. A spark plug is provided with: an insulator having a through hole; a center electrode disposed on a tip side of the through hole; terminal hardware disposed at a back end side of the through hole; a resistor disposed between the center electrode and the terminal hardware within the through hole in a position away from the center electrode; and a conductive seal disposed between the resistor and the center electrode within the through hole and in contact with each of the center electrode and the resistor. Here, a constitution may be used in which the contact surface of the conductive seal with the resistor includes, in at least one cross-section that includes the center axis, at least one point in which the distance from a virtual plane perpendicular to the center axis in the direction of the center axis and including the back end of the resistor becomes larger and includes at least one point in which the same becomes smaller. In addition, a constitution may be used in which at least part of the resistor is disposed more to the tip side than the back end of the center electrode.
