Abstract:
The invention suppresses a decrease in the strength and a decrease in the manufacturability of a main body metal shell. The main body metal shell of this spark plug contains: iron which is the main component; between 0.20% by weight and 0.30% by weight inclusive of carbon; between 0.30% by weight and 0.45% by weight inclusive of manganese; and between 0.005% by weight and 0.009% by weight inclusive of sulfur. The ratio Mn/S of the manganese content (% by weight) relative to the sulfur content (% by weight) is between 40 and 65 inclusive.
