Abstract:
[Problem] In a parametric speaker that uses ultrasonic waves as a carrier waves, to reduce the power consumption, and to make the oscillating elements resistant to damage when subjected to a shock due to being dropped or the like. [Solution] A plurality of magnetostrictive elements (2) comprising ferrite or the like are arranged in a matrix on the upper surface of a circuit substrate (1). A voice coil (3) is arranged around each of the magnetostrictive elements (2). When current flows to the voice coils (3), the magnetostrictive elements (2) expand and contract in the direction of the center axis thereof (height direction), whereby ultrasonic waves (carrier waves) are emitted into the air by the magnetostrictive elements (2). Due to the use of magnetostrictive elements (2) of ferrite or the like, the power consumption can be reduced in this case, as compared with cases in which piezoelectric oscillators are used, and the magnetostrictive elements (2) can be made resistant to damage when subjected to a shock due to being dropped or the like.
