Abstract:
Disclosed is a spectrophotometer capable of improving the use efficiency of light emitted from an intermittent light-emitting light source typified by a Xe flashlamp, and capable of obtaining an excellent S/N ratio. A monochromator (10) selects light of a desired wavelength from light emitted by a Xe flashlamp, which is a single light source of a wide range of wavelengths. Said light is passed through a specimen (7), is detected by an optical detector (21, 22), and is supplied to a low-pass filter (24) of a signal processing circuit (23). The output signal waveforms from the optical detector (21, 22) are expanded periodically by the low-pass filter (24) acting as a duration expanding means of a delaying means, etc., in which the time elapsed from the peak value to the half value of the light intensity of the light emitted by Xe flashlamp (1) is set as a time constant. The waveform signal of the expanded time period is supplied to a computer (30) via an amplifier (25) and an A/D conversion circuit (26). Because the waveform signal of the expanded time period can be used, the use efficiency of the totality of emitted light can be improved, and improvement of the S/N ratio can be maximized.
