Abstract:
A spectroscope having a wavelength dispersion element 123, photodetectors 124a-124c, and a chamber 121 for accommodating the same is provided with an exhaust tube 128 for discharging gas from inside the chamber 121, a gas supply source 150 filled with inert gas compressed at least to atmospheric pressure, cooling means 151b, 152b, 153b for reducing the temperature inside the chamber 121 by introducing the inert gas from the gas supply source 150 to the chamber 121 and causing the inert gas to expand, a temperature sensor 127 for detecting the temperature inside the chamber 121, and a control means 140 for controlling the cooling means 151b, 152b, 153b so that the temperature detected by the temperature sensor 127 becomes a target temperature. As a result, it is possible to adjust the temperature of a spectroscope to a lower temperature than in the prior art and reduce the effect of the background resulting from the dark current of photodetectors.
